I Am a Struggling Writer
By Abi Roe
I am a struggling writer.
I wonder if my dreams of fantasy will ever exist.
I see evidence of my mindless thoughts in every
crumbled paper.
I want the rush of inspiration to find me again.
I am a struggling writer.
I pretend that the block can’t affect me, but it
never works.
I feel disheartened that nothing ever gets written.
I worry my gift will fly away on the wings of my
train of thought.
I cry . . . okay, well, it’s not that bad, I guess.
I am a struggling writer.
I understand that I’m just over-reacting.
I dream about wonders of my world.
I try to write them down like old times.
I hope writer’s block will soon lose my scent.
I am a struggling writer.
