Love Song: “Friendship”
By Alyssa Gregory
Caught in the moment I can forget.
Encircled by laughter I escape.
Away from the stares,
I hide between the pairs.
Together you lift me away from the pain.
So high I can forget my own name.
The pain escapes through my laugh.
It heals the wounds the world has left.
My friends you certainly are the best.
You pull me in when I am weak
And you remind me that I’m not a freak.
Together we stay.
You remind me every day.
Once again you’ve brought me away.
Out of my world of pain you say:
“For today is a day you need to portray.”

Love Song: “Lilly of Love”
By Ashley Strother
My love for him is like a lilly.
Everyone wants him, but he’s mine.
Over all the other girls, he chose me.
We used to share our love for each other.
Together we would hang out and sometimes have our friends.
We’d go to the movies and buy popcorn and things.
Baking together we set a timer that rings.
That’s been a long time past, though.
Our Lilly of Love has become wilted and crushed from a toe.
It wasn’t eternal like I hoped.
I miss him as a flower misses water.
Lilly of Love no longer lives although I wanted it to last forever.

Love song: “My Prince Charming”
By Mollie McCann
Through the night I lie awake
And dream of what comes tomorrow:
my dream of a man who I love.
Dearly, someone who can look me
In the eye and say I love you.
My Prince Charming
Being my Prince Charming,
he has my whole heart
(the key to my heart).
The face of a gentleman --
a great look to him.
Handsome and smart
he is what he is.
Stars explain him perfectly
for they are sometimes unexplainable.
I understand him more than I think.
He knows
all the love we share together.
Seems to me it will never end.
Through the night, I lie awake
And dream of what comes tomorrow.

Ode: “Ode for Love”
By Christy Tatum
Ode for love? Why love?
Why shouldn’t an ode be about something else?
I’m just sitting here thinking, “Ode? Write an ode!”
Ha! Yeah -- I don’t think I can do an ode.
So why not write a non-ode?
Maybe an ode for hate or something.
If I had love in my heart then
Maybe I would write an ode.
But no love means no ode.
If I ever had an ode to write,
I would be very shocked.
Ha yeah me.
In love again -- yeah right!
I don’t think it’s possible.
If I ever did again, then it would
have to be way far in the future.

Ode: “Ode to Darkness”
By Dawson Leatherman
The light of the sun fades behind the hill.
When you go everything is still.
I stop and look at the dying light.
It gives me a small fright.
I look around fearing to be alone.
But I see no one.
I run through the trees scraping my arms on branches.
I hope I will have more chances.
My feet move faster and faster as I run.
Nothing but clouds clog the sky.
I won’t give up until I’m done.
The one I’ve looked for hasn’t arrived.
The wind picks up and makes the trees dance.
As the sun rises up, I see my last chance.
The one was there just waiting.
I’m now done debating.

Ode: “Ode To My Friend”
By Ashley Strother
We’ve been through a lot together.
Our families have known each other for what seems like forever.
We talk about anything and everything (well pretty much).
Our secrets are close to our hearts in a bunch.
I don’t know about you, but I worry when you’re not near.
But when you are, I feel safe unlike a deer.
Nothing can tear us apart
because we’ve made it through even the sourest tart.
Together, we make a great team.
But in Halo, you can only beat me in your dreams.
Although we’ve never baked a cake
Our friendship really is at stake.
I wish we could go to Taco Mayo.
I only hope that when my mom moves me and my sis to Ohio
that I can find a guy as good as you.

Love song: “Oh my Deer”
By Paul Sears
Oh my deer I love and chase you.
You try to evade me but to you I’ll be true.
I’ll hunt you both high and low.
Dance no further because I’m waiting.
My love so intense it won’t be hating.
I’ll only shoot you Buck not Mrs. Doe.
Oh my deer, I will never deceive you.
We can frolic in meadows with my rifle.
After I shoot you please don’t stifle.
Now I set in this tree stand waiting for your arrival.
So now I’ve shot you so you lay in the dew.
Even through the bullets and the pain I hope you know I love you!

Ode: “What’s the point?”
By Ouida Nash
What’s the point on caring anymore?
Everyone thinks sharing is caring.
Well sharing is not everything.
What’s the point?
What has a point
-- maybe a sharp knife, pencil, or a table?
Has this world just given up or what?
What’s the point?
Everyone has given up on something
-- love, family, friends.
We all have given up.
What’s the point on trying anymore?
What’s the point?
