The
Good Side of Valentine’s Day
By Alyssa Gregory
Valentine’s Day is a time to show people how you feel through
perfectly-arranged flowers, delicious candy, or creatively-weird
gifts. When the delivery person hands you the most beautiful
flowers, as you lean over to smell the intoxicating fragrance
and spy the girls’ jealousy as your love for your special
someone grows. Guys feel manly when their young lovers kiss them
on the cheek while saying thank you for those special gifts.
While you’re walking through the festively-decorated hallway,
you can feel the love ricocheting off the walls. The pink and
red is reminiscent of hearts, love, and promises, hand-holding,
laughing, and just time spent with that special someone.
Valentine’s Day is a time to be
together, a time to express love to cared-for people -- not just
by giving gifts, but also by spending time with them. It doesn’t
have to be expensive items -- rent a movie, order out, or maybe
just hang out. Whichever you choose, make sure it gives you
quality time. |
The
Bad Side of Valentine’s Day
By Ouida Nash
Why do we even
celebrate Valentine’s Day? It is just one day out of the year
that people don’t look like total idiots for telling some one
they love them. Half our lives we get left lout and have a
black hole for a heart. When looking at all the other couples,
we feel like puking our guts out. As we see kissing, chocolate
hearts, or anything red, we don’t want next year’s valentine’s
to come. Being left out feels like a penny stuck in the rain all
alone.
What about the flowers? All we
do is keep them for about a week and then they die. Sometimes we
think about painting all the red roses black, but it can’t be
done. The color pink is so weird. Why does Valentine’s have to
be covered in red and pink? It makes us think about blood
splattering all over a white wall. |
