Teacher Career: Mrs.
Etter
By Mollie McCann
With her wavy-blonde hair that
enhances her unique and loving personality, Grace Etter has many
hobbies. She enjoys hiking, scrap booking, and cooking. Her
favorite is spending time with her goats, Emma, Fatima, Roxy,
and Zelda.
“They are gentle, amusing animals that are the most
environmentally-conscious pets you can have,” said Mrs. Etter.
If she could have done anything when she was younger, Mrs. Etter
would have started the greatest band in the world -- in the
likes of Fleetwood Mac or Bon Jovi, of course. Instead of
starting that rock band, though, she worked in the Treasury
Department at Public Service Company (PSO) of Tulsa, Okla., for
twelve years.
After moving to Kaw City, Mrs. Etter earned her bachelor’s
degree in Special Education from OSU. Mr. Barnes, Principal of
Newkirk High School, called and asked if she would accept a
special education position. Because NHS was very close to home,
she accepted the job.
“Home” is how Mrs. Etter summed up her experience at NHS.
“I will miss the teachers and the students a great deal,” said
Mrs. Etter who, after twelve years in the district, has decided
to move on.
